Touch the texture

Hi everyone,

Friday at long last, hope everyone had a nice week. I have been a little bit slow on the creative front this week,I have a little pile of half finished stuff now that I don't know how to finish! It's strange how some days you can make art like a production line and other days you are just staring at what you are doing blankly for ages until you give up!

Well anyway,a canvas for you today. I thought I would enter this for 2 of my favourite challenges today as this piece contains the use of texture by using my beloved grunge paste through a stencil.

So this is being entered for  That's Crafty, Texture challenge here
and Vintage Journey, Get some texture here

Fresco paints,grunge paste,crafters workshop stencil,distress inks,crackle accents,tim holtz stamp.

Flying high in swirly skies

Hi everyone,

Wow, thanks once again for some lovely comments on my work,I don't want to sound like a parrot on every post but I so appreciate it!

I have been bad again re crafting supplies....yep more money spent! Just discovered a love for distress paints and embossing powders now! It's amazing how different the distress powders are to other embossing powders, they do not go smooth but retain a gritty texture. Also got amongst other treats, a teeny little pack of 5 inch TH ecletic elements fabric squares....gorgeousness in fabric! The only problem is I dont have a sewing machine and from what I remember of my old school days well let's just say,I could never thread that bobbin thing! So yes hand sewing for me : (

Anyway, as the title says,a swirly sky tag for you today

I am entering this in Craftroom challenge,Things With Wings here

Fresco paints, puff paint, derwent pencils. Sorry, can't remember who the stamps are from but they are lovely!

Roll up....

Hi everyone,

A big thank you once again to my new followers and all the lovely comments that have been left for me since I started blogging. I really love the fact that the crafting community are so kind and always willing to share ideas. I do get so much pleasure looking at everyone's blogs and all the different styles and inventive things that you lovely people come up with.

As it's a really dull, wet day here in the UK I thought a little cheery tag for today would be just the job!

Distress inks, wendy vecchi stripes stencil, tim holtz stamps, derwent pencils and mica flakes on the heart.

Hope you like it.

Tea roses are the best!

Hi everyone,

Well,as I mentioned in my previous post,I am now the proud owner of Mr Holtz's 3rd book. Seriously gorgeous it is as you would expect. I thought I can now join in with the challenges over at Studio L3,CC3C challenge 3 here generously sponsored by Inspiration Emporium which has some fab stuff.

This one is all about using the pinecone die for making tea roses. I must say this is really tricky but if you can get the knack of doing it,you can make the most wonderful vintage looking flowers. Yes you do really need to use a cocktail stick too. These were my first attempts so don't look too closely please!!

Distress inks, tissue tape, rust powder, crackle paint, rock candy glitter, stickles and loads of TH goodies for embellishments.

I did enjoy making this,so i hope you like it!

Using some metal

Hi everyone,

Friday today....YAY! I must say I am nearly bankrupt now with the amount of art supplies that have been coming through my door lately! Just received Mr Holtz's 3rd book so having a great time looking through that. Unfortunately, looking at all your lovely blogs can lead to more purchases as well,I have just bought a memory box stencil that I saw before but never thought of buying until I saw it used on Lin Browns blog....dangerous thing looking at blogs!

Anyway,a tag for you today using metal as that was the criteria for Craft Hoarders Anonymous,Metal/Glass challenge here

Thanks Ellen

Hi everyone,

Today's post is a big thank you to the lovely Ellen Vargo. I am sure you all know her and her gorgeous colourful work but in case you don't her blog is here.

Anyway,to cut a long story short,Ellen has produced some wonderful new stamps in conjunction with Paperartsy and she was doing a giveaway on her blog for a couple of sets of them. As I am a follower anyway,I left a comment and won one of the set of circle stamps! I really am one of those saddos that NEVER win anything so you can imagine when I did how I felt....poor Ellen must have thought I was completely loopy as I was so happy to have won!

As I am progressing in my methods,I now realise the importance of backgrounds. When I first started I was all for the 'main' image stamp but now I am understanding the importance of adding depth via layers to everything you do. That's why I love these stamps so much, I absolutely adore circles and dots as they seem to compliment everything.

I thought I would try and do something different with this set of stamps. I was going to do a version of Ellen's gorgeous 'double ' tags she did for Paperartsy but really I couldn't improve on that so best to go a different route!

I thought I would do one of the flowers with some petals missing as flowers are never perfect are they     and use the chit chat sayings as leaves to emphasise it.....see,nothing is thrown together here!

Ellen's stamp set  EEV06,fresco paints,distress inks.

I am pleased with the way it turned out, nice and bright!

Hope you like it.

Recycle It

Hi everyone,

A big hello and thank you to my new followers,I hope you always find something you like on my blog. I am not sure how many pictures to put on my blog because I just assume that everyone looking knows more of the tips and tricks then I do! Having said that,I do love looking at blogs that have start to finish pictures as there are so many great ideas to learn from. If/when I ever get a decent crafting space I will try and do more of that, promise!

Just a quick note also, I have been mucking about with redesigning my blog and the blogs I follow etc. I think I may have deleted some blogs,so if I have unfollowed anyone it's by mistake,I am still not 100 percent happy with it,so apologies in advance if the look of my blog keeps changing...I will get it right eventually!

Right, enough waffling on,a tag today using recycled bits.

I have not been crafting using mixed media for long ( more a FIMO/ sketching girl) so I have a LOT of tags that I did in the early days that are frankly rubbish! So,I am in the process of giving them away for bookmarks or reusing the various bits on them to apply to better tags! In this case the heart is cut from a previous whole tag,I liked the raindrop stamping but hated the rest of the tag! The trellis die cut at the bottom is a little bit left over from another project. Lastly, the flower is an offcut of some crepe type paper used on something else.

I am entering this in the Craftroom challenge,Recycle here

Anyway,on to today's tag. I really love Tim's tissue tape, got a good price on it too as it's quite expensive but oh so fab,so I have a feeling you may be seeing a lot of it now!

Circling round

Hi everyone,

I have just received a load of lovely goodies through the door so will be spending the rest of the day getting messy! One of the goodies is a set of the Tim Holtz Found Relative cards, they are beautiful,a lot bigger then I thought they would be so I may use them on some paperartsy greyboard I have yet to break out the packaging yet. If anyone has used the greyboard before, please let me know what you think of it.

Today is a tag with the theme of circles

Fresco paints, tim holtz stamps, paperartsy stencil, frantage on the flower (just discovered this stuff, truly gorgeous enamel effect),if you look closely there are little sparkling stars in the bottle.

Spud you like!

Hi everyone,

Firstly,a big thank you and extra warm hugs to my new followers and the lovely ladies who left all those comments yesterday. It's really weird,I left my ipad and went off to do crafty stuff, came back and then all you lovely people appeared! Anyway,I had to make a cuppa to calm myself,so thanks for that excuse ha ha.

Right, today I have used a potato for stamping.....no,the other half has not run amok and thrown away all my stamps it's for a challenge, yes it was quite a challenge hence that's why it's called a challenge I suppose!

I cut the potato into a heart shape for stamping....nearly cut my finger a number of times! Stamped with lovely sage fresco paint, best to have hardly any paint on there as the potato is wet.

Well there's the proof above.....stunning mess huh?!

Fresco paint, distress inks, the heart is a stamp from Designs by Ryn,these rubber stamps are stunning, you have to send off to Canada direct for them but they are worth it,tim holtz stamp and stickles.

I am entering this for Craft stamper magazine, stamps carved from a potato May challenge here

Hmmmm still think a potato should be a crisp or a chip!

Hope you like it.

This really is leftovers!

Hi everyone,

Firstly, thanks to everyone for their lovely comments on my last post. I really do appreciate any comments I get and if I leave anything out or if anyone wants to know anything more I will happily answer. After all,it's all about helping each other on the crafting journey isn't it.

My tag today really is made from rubbish, well leftovers shall we say!

The tag background was smooshed (is that a word) in some left over paints and sprays on my craftmat. The lovely tissue paper was the wrapping from a rather gorgeous smelly pressie from Neals Yard from my lovely daughter for my birthday last month ( yes 21 of course,do you need to ask). The heart was the packaging from a prima stamp I bought this week, leaves are cardboard from my cats pet food box,the flower was made from some remnants I bought in a little bag of bits and pieces from a craft store and the material at the top is a spare piece from a cushion cover I die cut for some fabric flowers.

I am entering this in Our Creative Corner, Leftovers challenge here

Hope you like it,it's great to re-use scraps.
